This carbody kit represents a 50-foot mill gondola typical of those seen on many class 1 railroads. The kit features sand-cast aluminum frame/floor, sides, and ends with all rivet and stiffener detail cast in. The couple pocket is machined to accept our #2400 automatic couplers with draft gear. The body bolsters will accept any of our freigth truck kits. A Torrington bearing truck mounting kit is included. All critical machining is already done, the builder only has to file, drill, and tap the castings for assembly.
For those who desire the ultimate in rolling stock, we also offer this car body fully assembled and TIG welded. This eliminates the need for screws and makes a very robust car.
